These offense reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:
HILLSBORO
Drug possession, drunken driving
A gram of methamphetamine (enough for five doses) and three smoking devices were seized during a traffic stop at 3:30 p.m. April 23 in the 100 block of E. 2nd St.
Officer John Huebert stopped driver Joshua L. Friesen on suspicion of having an expired driver’s license.
Huebert reported seeing contraband during the stop. Meth and drug paraphernalia reportedly were discovered in a search of a bag belonging to passenger Belinda S. Robinson, 48, Manhattan.
Robinson was arrested on suspicion of possession of meth and paraphernalia. She was booked into Marion County Jail, where she remained at last report in lieu of posting $4,500 in bonds.
Friesen also was suspected of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. His blood was drawn at Hillsboro Community Hospital.
He was arrested on suspicion of possessing meth and paraphernalia, driving without a valid license, and possibly driving under the influence. He was released 25½ hours later after posting a $2,500 bond.
Theft, drug possession, jail contraband
Half a gram of cocaine (enough for more than half a dozen doses), half a gram of marijuana (enough for a single dose), 10 doses of morphine, and a trace amount of methamphetamine were seized during a traffic stop at 3:25 p.m. Thursday near 190th and Jade Rds.
Also recovered were a debit card, a Social Security card, two driver’s licenses, and a wallet earlier reported as stolen along with $131 in currency. The currency was not listed as being recovered.
A smoking device and three lighters also were seized.
Hillsboro officer John Huebert had been investigating the 3 p.m. theft of the financial items from the residence of Vernon K. Martin, 50, in the 100 block of N. Madison St. when a sheriff’s deputy stopped near 190th and Jade Rds. a vehicle driven by a person Huebert had identified as a suspect in the theft.
A drug-sniffing dog from the Marion police department was called in, and a subsequent search of the vehicle led to seizure of the drug and financial items.
Sara J. Lanham, 30, Newton, was arrested on suspicion of theft and possession of stimulants, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.
While she was booked into Marion County Jail, jailers reportedly found additional illicit drugs concealed within her body, adding a potential charge of trafficking in contraband at a correctional facility.
She was released 26 hours later after posting a $10,000 bond.
