Olde Towne gets renovation grant

Hillsboro’s Olde Towne building, 126 N. Main St., will be repaired and renovated into a downtown event center thanks to a Historic Economic Asset Lifeline grant of $74,999 from the Department of Commerce and the Patterson Family Foundation.

The main level of the building, owned by TDriggers Investments, will become rental space for events and entertainment. The upper level will be renovated into apartments.

The grant was announced Monday.

Peabody received a $65,000 HEAL grant in 2022 for emergency repairs to the Kollock and Bragunier-Otte buildings, 107-109 Walnut St.

Marion also received a $65,000 HEAL grant in 2022 to repair a historic building at 301 E. Main St. for Bill and Essie’s Barbecue.

The Hillsboro grant was part of $918,000 given this year for 17 projects across the state.

HEAL grants are intended to help revitalize underused and dilapidated downtown buildings in rural communities.
