Olde Towne sold to Wendy’s owner

Staff writer

The former Olde Towne Restaurant and Bakery building at 126 N. Main in Hillsboro stands dark and empty, but opportunities swirl for successful bidder Gary Reiman of McPherson.

“I don’t have any definite plans to share at this time,” Reiman said on Monday. “We want to be part of this community and there are some opportunities there we want to consider.”

Reiman, who operates the purchasing entity Sunset Equities, also owns Wendy’s in Hillsboro. He agreed to purchase the Olde Towne building at a public auction on Oct. 9, though financing has not yet been finalized. Leppke Realty and Auction, Inc. handled the sale.

According to Leppke representative Brenda Riemer, the building brought $45,000, but did not include any of the kitchen equipment or interior fixtures. Those items sold separately in a deal handled by Hillsboro Economic Director Clint Seibel.

Reiman confirmed that he also purchased all interior items that went along with the restaurant building.

“We want to keep it all together,” he said.
