The 1A Regional cross-country meet Saturday in Wichita was end of the line for many, but not Goessel runners Jerah Schmidt and Elyse Boden.
Boden broke the school record with a 21:08.6, and her sixth-place finish was enough to earn a spot in next week’s state meet.
Jerah Schmidt snagged a medal with a 10th-place finish, and his time of 17:59.80 was enough to qualify individually for state.
Both the boys’ and the girls’ teams finished in fifth place, but only the top four teams at each regional meet advance.
Other Girls finishers: Porclein Unruh, 35th, 25:25.1; Katelyn Olson, 45th, 27:55.9; Alyssa Boden, 50th, 29:01.2.
