Peabody may get
fiber optic broadband

Staff writer

Peabody residents are looking hopeful toward gaining access to fiber optic broadband service in their homes.

TCW Broadband conducted a public meeting Tuesday to share information about getting a connection in Peabody.

TCW has been building a fiber optic cable to Hillsboro over the past year and recently applied for a federal grant to build gigabit-speed broadband in Peabody.

Homes in Durham, Lehigh, Canada, and elsewhere along the route from northern Marion County would be included.

“We’ve struggled for a long time with internet connectivity,” Peabody librarian and First Baptist Church pastor Rodger Charles said.

TCW will need to send documentation to the state and meet with city council members next week.
