Peabody readies for track
Staff writer
A clutch of 10 kids faces the track season at Peabody-Burns this year.
How many will compete could change at each track meet since many also play baseball. Four freshmen joined the team.
“We should have at least one entry in nearly every event,” coach Kody Tegtmeier said.
The school lost its assistant coach for jumps, so Tegtmeier will put more focus on it himself. He also wants to work on the team’s sprinting this year.
Last year, one student qualified for state and a few others almost made it.
“We have a good core back that competed really well last year,” Tegtmeier said. “For the number of kids we have, we competed very well at several track meets. There’s not much you can do with only 10 or so kids, but we had a lot of individual success.”
The team’s first meet is 4 p.m. April 5 at Fairfield.
