Picturesque B&B overlooks lake

Staff writer

Kent and Alice Richmond, both in their 80s, haven’t let age slow them down. With the help of their daughter, Brenda Soyez, they continue to operate Country Dreams Bed and Breakfast, three miles north of K-150 on Clover Rd., now celebrating its 25th year.

A picturesque, 19-acre spring-fed lake is a major attraction, Alice said. It is stocked with fish, and boats are available at no extra charge. A paddleboat also is available.

“Some guests have been fishing in the heat and catching fish,” Alice said.

A large deck that overlooks the lake provides views of sunsets on clear days.

The facility can accommodate families or groups of up to 15 overnight. A full breakfast is served.

A large room is available for business meetings, family gatherings, and social events. Up to 50 people can dine at banquet tables.

Recent overnight guests have come from as far away as New York and Chicago as well as many places in Kansas.

The Richmonds enjoy their work and plan to keep the business going as long as they can.

“It’s kind of like traveling and staying at home,” Alice said.
