Player nets unanimous honors

Hillsboro volleyball player Jessica Saunders unanimously was selected to Central Kansas League’s first team, a week after the Trojans placed fourth at state championships.

Saunders excelled as a middle hitter, leading Hillsboro with 244 kills, 20 solo blocks, and 72 assisted blocks.

Senior Teegan Werth, junior Sammie Saunders, both outside hitters, and sophomore libero Kori Arnold all were selected to CKL’s second team.

Sammie trailed her sister in blocks with 220, while Werth was next with 199.

Arnold accounted for 351 of Hillsboro’s 1,400 digs, and she was followed by Werth with 279 and Jessica Saunders with 180. Arnold also scored the most service aces for the Trojans, with 50. Sisters Sammie and Jessica were next on the team, with 40 aces for Sammie and 31 for Jessica.
