Activity reports
Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded.
Hillsboro
June 1 – Loose dogs in the 200 block of S. Madison St. were caught by their owner. Parents received help with an out-of-control child.
June 2 – Illegal trash disposal was investigated in city containers at Memorial Park.
June 3 – Police assisted a person with text message issues. No items were taken from a vehicle in the 500 block of S. Lincoln St., despite reports that someone had entered the unlocked vehicle.
Thursday – A motorist possibly under the influence could not be found. A motorist was warned for having a headlight out.
Friday – Motorists were warned for excessive vehicle smoke and for having no side mirrors. A door-to-door salesman was instructed to get a permit. A transient was reported at Casey’s General Store. A report of gunshots in the 300 block of N. Birch St. proved to be fireworks.
Saturday – Two loose dogs playing with roadkill in the 200 block of S. Lincoln St. were returned to their owner. A domestic issue in the 300 block of W. 3rd St. remains under investigation. A noise complaint was reported in the 300 block of N. Jefferson St.
Sunday – A motorist was warned for failing to come to a complete stop at Ash St. and US-56. A person riding an ATV in town with an open container of alcohol was reported. A prowler was reported in the 500 block of W. Grand Ave. but no one was found.
Marion
June 1 – A disabled vehicle was reported to be in traffic in the 100 block of N. Cedar St., but no vehicle was found.
June 2 – A motorist was cited for speeding in the 500 block of E. Main St. A motorist returned to pay for gas in the 1200 block of E. Main after neglecting to do so at Casey’s General Store. A loose dog in the 400 block of N. Freeborn St. was caught by its owner.
June 3 – A suspicious vehicle was reported on S. Burbridge St. but no vehicle was found. A parking complaint was made in the 400 block of S. Roosevelt St. A possibly confused elderly driver near Main and 3rd Sts. could not be found. Roofers working after dark were advised to stop until the next morning.
Thursday – An owner of a rooster in the 200 block of N. Roosevelt St. was warned about city ordinances. A loose dog in the 700 block of S. Roosevelt St. was caught by its owner. Two people were told to stop contacting one another after a harassment complaint. A motorist was warned for having a white light on the rear of a vehicle on US-56 near Upland Rd.
Friday – No action taken after a verbal disturbance in the 400 block of S. 4th St. A door-to-door salesman in the 700 block of Nickerson St. was instructed to get a permit.
Saturday – A parking complaint near Marion’s dike proved unfounded. A person was asked to move a vehicle after a parking complaint in the 700 block of Lawrence St. A motorist was warned for speeding.
Sunday – A motorist was warned for driving the wrong way on a one-way street. A man passed out at the wheel near Industrial Rd. and US-56 was checked by an ambulance attendant for a medical issue.

Friday – A person was warned for trespassing in the 800 block of N. Chestnut St.
Saturday – Suspicious activity was reported in the 400 block of N. Locust St. A bicycle was reported stolen in the 200 block of N. Sycamore St.
