Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded.

Hillsboro

Aug. 17 — Motorists were warned for parking violations in the 400 block of S. Adams St. A complaint was made of a dog running free near 2nd and Washington Sts.

Aug. 18 — A complaint was made about a bicycle that may have been stolen but no action was taken. Suspicious activity was reported in the 100 block of N. Cedar St., but no one was found. A motorist was warned for not using vehicle lights on N. Adams St. A suspicious vehicle reported at a house in the 200 block of Eisenhower St. proved to be owned by a friend of the residents.

Aug. 19 — Motorists were warned for parking violations in the 400 block of S. Adams St. and the 600 block of E. C St., and for having defective brake lights in the 300 block of W. Grand Ave. A possible child abuse incident was referred to Kansas Department of Children and Families. A complaint was made about abandoned property in the 300 block of N. Ash St. but no action was taken. Report of suspicious activity in the 200 block of S. Main St. ended up being a juvenile out walking.

Thursday — A motorist was cited for speeding 47 mph in a 30 mph zone in the 600 block of W. D St. A person was warned for violating a child custody agreement near Jade and 180th Rds. A traffic complaint was made in the 700 block of Western Heights Circle. People were warned for hanging out at Memorial Park after its 11 p.m. curfew.

Friday — A person complained about getting unwanted text messages. Motorists were warned for equipment violations at 3rd and Jefferson Sts., and at F and Ash Sts. Officers responded to a false alarm at Ampride.

Saturday — A motorist was warned for failing to dim vehicle lights at US-56 and Kanza Rd. A suspicious person reported at Zion Cemetery was being someone visiting a relative’s grave.

Sunday — Report of a suspicious vehicle at Marion County Fairgrounds proved unfounded.

Aug. 17 — A motorist was warned for parking on a crosswalk in the 500 block of E. Main St. A motorist was warned for a J-turn. A report was made of vehicle damage in the 200 block of N. Roosevelt St. The case remains under investigation. Motorists were warned for having no trailer lights near Cedar St. and US-56, and for having a headlight out near Main and Lincoln Sts.

Aug. 18 — A report was made of damage to property in the 300 block of Eisenhower Dr. A welfare check was provided in the 400 block of N. Coble St. A parking complaint was made in the 400 block of W. Santa Fe St. A dog reportedly running free in the 600 block of S. Roosevelt St. was picked up by the dog’s owner before police arrived. Officers responded to assist with a fight at Marion County Jail. A trespassing complaint was made in the 400 block of Locust St.

Thursday — People were warned for having posts in a right-of-way. A motorist was warned at Sherman and Roosevelt Sts. for having a headlight out. Two possibly suspicious vehicles were checked in the 900 block of N. Cedar St. but nothing suspicious was found.

Friday — A person was warned for having a rooster in town. A dog owner was warned to keep his or her dog penned up in the 100 block of Forest St. after a vicious dog complaint. A motorist was warned for not wearing a seatbelt in the 100 block of E. Main St. A complaint was made of an unwanted person at Dollar General. A person was warned for placing items in a right of way in the 400 block of W. Santa Fe St. A noise complaint was made in the 100 block of N. Roosevelt St. A motorist was warned for having a taillight out near Upland Rd. and US-56.

Saturday — A person was warned for trespassing the day before. Officers investigated a possible burglary in the 400 block of S. 3rd St. Officers assisted a motorist in the 400 block of S. 3rd St. and checked a broken-down vehicle in the 600 block of E. Main St. A reckless driver reported on US-56 was not found. A loud bang was reported in the 100 block of N. Roosevelt St. but nothing was found.

Sunday — Report was made of a dog biting someone in the 1500 block of E. Main St. Possibly suspicious activity in the 300 block of N. Coble St. proved to be children playing a game.

Peabody

Aug. 19 — A report was made of battery and damage to property in the 400 block of N. Sycamore St.
