Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded.

Hillsboro

Dec. 28 — A report was made of a reckless driver on US-56, but the vehicle could not be found. A motorist was warned for speeding in the 700 block of S. Ash St.

Dec. 29 — A report was made that a vehicle was seen with drug paraphernalia at Wendy’s drive-thru, but the vehicle could not be found. A motorist was warned for equipment violations.

Dec. 30 — Reginald J. Hiebert, 62, Hillsboro, reported that someone had entered Hillsboro Body Shop on Dec. 21 and stolen nine business checks. The checks later were cashed at Central National Bank in Salina, according to offense reports. Sharon K. George, 67, Lehigh, was slowing down in her 1999 Chevrolet Lumina to turn onto a private drive in the 400 block of N. Ash St. Brittney R. McDonald, 25, Halstead, driving a 2012 Infiniti G, was unable to slow down in time and crashed into the Chevrolet. Motorists were assisted for a radiator failure at 3rd and Main Sts., and a blown tire on US-56 at Kanza Rd. Police removed a dead deer from the road on US-56 at Old Mill Rd.

Thursday — A person was assisted with concerns about a protection from abuse order. A motorist was cited for speeding on US-56. A motorist was warned for an equipment violation. Zachary G. Anderson, 24, Hillsboro, was arrested after a traffic stop for speeding at D St. and Floral Dr. Anderson was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Saturday — A report was made of a suspicious person at Parkside Church, which proved to be someone looking for a Wi-Fi signal. A motorist was warned for having an expired 60-day tag. A motorist was pulled over at Main and 2nd Sts. for not having lights, when police discovered the driver had no registration, insurance or license. A court case is being filed on suspicion of driving without insurance, registration or license. A motorist was cited for not having lights or insurance in the 300 block of S. Ash St. A motorist was warned for an equipment violation in the 200 block of S. Main St.

Sunday — A motorist was warned for failing to stop at a stop sign at Ash and D Sts. When the motorist stopped in the 200 block of S. Washington St. she accidentally backed into the car of an officer who pulled her over. A report is being filed with the sheriff’s department. A dog complaint was made in the 200 block of E. C St. A potentially suicidal person was transported to Hillsboro Community Hospital for a mental evaluation.

Dec. 28 — Reports were made of suspicious activity in the 400 block of S. Thorp St., and the 400 block of S. Coble St.

Dec. 29 — A report was made of a possible unemployment scam attempt. A motorist was cited for not having insurance on Sunflower Rd. south of Marion.

Dec. 30 — A motorist was cited for speeding 77 miles per hour in a 65 mph zone on US-56 near Cedar St.

Thursday — A dog running free in the 200 block of N. 4th St. was returned to its owner. Six motorists were warned for various traffic violations.

Friday — A motorist was warned for riding a dirt bike on the street. A dog-owner spoke with police about his or her dog running free.

Saturday — A report was made of lost sunglasses. A disturbance was reported in the 400 block of W. Santa Fe St., but police determined no action was needed.

Sunday — A motorist was warned for having a headlight out near Elm and Main Sts.

Peabody

Dec. 28 — A motorist was cited for speeding on US-50.
