ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded.

HILLSBORO

May 17 — A non-injury accident at 1st and Lincoln Sts. and a complaint about a barking dog in the 100 block of S. Cedar St, were investigated. A motorist was warned for an equipment violation in the 1000 block of S. Ash St.

May 18 — What initially was reported as someone driving off without paying for fuel at Ampride ended up being a case of a credit card reader malfunctioning.

May 19 — A non-injury accident at US-56 and Jade Rd. was investigated. A person suspiciously walking in Hillsboro Heights turned out to be someone checking recent rain totals at the subdivision’s pond. An alarm accidentally was set off by an employee at Casey’s General Store.

Thursday — A suicidal person was taken to Hillsboro Community Hospital from the 300 block of W. 3rd St. Police also assisted sheriff’s deputies with a suicidal juvenile. A heater motor was found to be responsible for a report of smoke in a room at Salem Home. A motorist was warned for speeding at Limestone and 190th Rds.

Friday — Reports of animal cruelty in the 700 block of W. Grand Ave. and of a couple arguing in the 400 block of S. Birch St. were investigated.

Saturday — Juveniles who dumped golf balls in the 100 block of N. Main St. were located and told to clean them up.

Sunday — A pilot’s problems with a fuel pump at Hillsboro Airport was investigated. Police determined that the owners of dogs barking in the 600 block of S. Ash St. were out of town. A motorist was warned about an equipment violation.

MARION

May 17 — A beaver stuck in a fountain at Central Park and relocated to Luta Creek. A dog running free was taken to Animal Health Center. A driver of an all-terrain vehicle was warned for having no registration and no lights.

May 18 — A suspicious vehicle reported in the 400 block of Elm St. was not found.

May 19 — A dog running free in the 300 block of Fink St. and taken to Animal Health Center.

Thursday — Several homeowners were notified that their lawns needed to be mowed. A motorist was warned for speeding. Officers stood by during a civil matter in the 400 block of N. 2nd St and checked on the welfare of a resident in the 400 block of N. Roosevelt St. No problem was found after police investigated reports of suspicious people in the 600 block of Sherman St.

Friday — Two people were arrested after drugs and stolen items were discovered when a search warrant was executed in the 500 block of N. Cedar St.

Police, firefighters, and emergency medical technicians attempted to resuscitate an unresponsive person in the in the 1000 block of Weldon St.

A tire-slashing in the 600 block of S. Cedar St. was investigated.

Officers met with the owner of a dog picked up earlier. A suspicious person near 2nd and Miller Sts. turned out to be a surveyor for EBH Engineering.

Saturday — Vandalism was reported in the 300 block of N. Roosevelt St, Three motorists were warned for equipment violations. Officers discussed a trespassing case and stood during a civil matter. A tree limb was reported in the road near Cedar and Kellison Sts.

Sunday — A motorist left without paying for fuel at Casey’s General Store, and a disturbance there remains under investigation.

A watch found in Central Park was turned in. Police looked into a parking complaint in the 900 block of E. Main St.
