ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Because officers’ shifts often span midnight, events may have occurred to the day previous or following the date listed.

HILLSBORO

Aug. 2 — Angry customers were encouraged to leave County Haven Inn. Police couldn’t find a jogger who reportedly urinated in public. At a parent’s request, an officer spoke to a misbehaving child. A vehicle parked in a business lot after hours was investigated. A motorist was warned about using a mobile phone, and another was cited for not having valid vehicle registration.

Aug. 3 — A cat that had been run over was removed from a roadway. A motorist was warned for speeding.

Aug. 4 — A complaint of animal abuse in the 200 block of S. Lincoln St. was determined to be unfounded. A driver was warned for having a license plate obscured by its cover.

Thursday — Citations were issued for speeding, having no proof of insurance, and having expired registration. A complaint of suspicious activity in the 300 block of S. Wilson St. proved unfounded.

Friday — Property was reported missing from the 500 block of S. Ash St. A complaint of a stolen cell phone in the 300 block of S. Wilson St. was determined to be unfounded. A lost wallet was returned to its owner. A driver was warned for speeding, and two others were cited for speeding, one in a construction zone. A littering complaint at a business on N. Ash St. was investigated. A suspicious vehicle in Willow Glen addition could not be found. A complaint of suspicious activity in the 300 block of S. Wilson St. proved unfounded.

Saturday — A delayed report of a domestic disturbance in the 300 block of S. Ash St. remains under investigation.

Sunday — A trespassing citation was issued in the 400 block of S. Main St. A fire hydrant spewing water provided to be intentional flushing of lines by the city water department. Officers investigated a report of foxes in a residential neighborhood and a false commercial alarm at Ampride.

MARION

July 26 — Officers met with a resident about possible harassment and checked on the welfare of a resident in the 800 block of Hudson St.

July 27 — What initially was reported as a theft turned out to involve an item its owner had misplaced. Officers met with a person regarding found property and issued traffic tickets for going 34 mph in a 20-mph zone, having expired registration, and having no proof of liability insurance.

July 28 — Officers determined that an owner was present after hours at a business, the door to which was found to be open. A driver was warned for speeding. No problem was found after a suspicious person was reported in the 400 block of S. Roosevelt St. Police checked on the welfare of a resident of the 200 block of N. Cedar St.

July 29 — Two residents were notified of the need to mow their yards. A driver was warned for having an obstructed license plate. No problems were found after a report of suspicious activity in the 900 block of Melvin St.

July 30 — A dog reported to be in the street in the 300 block of S. Roosevelt St. was not found. Drivers were warned for failing to stop at stop sign and having a faulty headlight. Another motorist was cited for going 82 mph in a 65-mph zone. No problems were noted after a disconnected 911 call was investigated.

July 31 — Two dogs picked up in the 100 block of N. Roosevelt St. were taken to Animal Health Center. A third dog near Santa Fe and 3rd Sts. escaped capture. A driver was ticketed for going 83 mph in a 65-mph zone.

Aug. 1 — A driver was ticketed for going 77 mph in a 65-mph zone.

Aug. 2 — A dog was reported to be running free in the 100 block of N. Roosevelt St. Three motorists were warned for speeding.

Aug. 3 — Police found no problems after suspicious activity was reported in the 400 block of N. Roosevelt St. Two drivers were warned for speeding.

Aug. 4 — Two dogs picked up on Santa Fe St. were taken to Animal Health Center. A parking ticket was written in the 1100 block of Weldon St. A motorist was warning for driving left of center. Police found no problems after checking on a suspicious vehicle in the 200 block of S. 3rd St.

Thursday — A dog picked up in the 600 block of Hudson St. was taken to Animal Health Center. A driver was warned for having a faulty headlight.

Friday — Police cited a person who allegedly was responsible for an arrow found lodged in a residence in the 500 block of S. Lincoln St. A motorist was warned for speeding. Police picked up found property. Improper parking was reported in the 100 block of N. 3rd St. and reckless driving was reported on US-56.

Saturday — Officers from Marion and Hillsboro helped someone locked out of an apartment. An open fire hydrant was reported near Elm and Sherman Sts. Police used radar to check speeds on S. 3rd St. and warned one motorist for speeding. A suspicious vehicle was reported.

Sunday — Two drivers were warned for speeding.
