ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

Jan. 31 — Theft of more than $11,000 in wire stored in recycling boxes at Elcon Services was investigated. A dog was reported loose in the 300 block of N. Adams St. Police checked on the welfare of a resident in the 200 block of S. Lincoln St.

Feb. 1 — A resident inquired about a property issue.

Feb. 2 — Police helped a motorist stuck in snow.

Thursday — Investigation of a domestic disturbance in the 200 block of E. F St. is continuing. A dog was reported loose in the 100 block of W. 2nd St. A driver was stopped at Indigo and 160th Rds. because of issues with vehicle registration.

Friday — A resident talked to police about a dog shelter. Police stood by at Hillsboro Community Hospital but were not needed to handle an out-of-control child.

Saturday — Someone at Salem Home accidentally called 911. Drivers were warned for running stop signs at Eisenhower and A Sts. and at Ash St. and US-56.

Sunday — Police helped a motorist at Jade and 190th Sts. and warned another driver for speeding at Ash St. and US-56.

MARION

Jan. 31 — Police served an arrest warrant in the 400 block of S. 4th St., met with a resident about a possible scam, and assisted firefighters with a fire in a trash can near Main and 2nd Sts. Two motorists were warned about equipment violations.

Feb. 1 — A parent of a child found walking in the 400 block of S. Cedar St. was located. Three drivers were warned for speeding or equipment violations.

Feb. 2 — Police helped a driver whose vehicle was stuck in snow near Denver and Eisenhower St.

Thursday — A delayed report of an accident in Harvey County was relayed to officers there.

Friday —- Police received a report of mail that might have been stolen but took no report because the victim lived outside the city. Police stood by during a child custody exchange in the 1500 block of E. Lawrence St. A driver was warned for speeding. Police met with the owner of a missing cat.

Saturday — A VFW patron who allegedly threatened an employee and kicked several police officers was arrested. Police closed a door found open in the 100 block of S. Lincoln St. Three drivers were warned for speeding or equipment violations. A resident reported possible harassment.

Sunday — One person asked to be taken to another location after a verbal disturbance in the 300 block of N. Roosevelt St. Three drivers were warned for speeding or equipment violations. Nothing was found after suspicious activity was reported in the 500 block of Walnut St.
