ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

May 9 — A domestic disturbance in the 100 block of S. Birch St. was investigated. Police helped a resident with a civil issue.

May 10 — A driver was warned for running a stop sign at Jefferson St. and Grand Ave.

May 11 — An issue involving parking in the 400 block of S. Lincoln St. was investigated. A report of a suspicious vehicle in the 300 block of N. Madison St. was determined to be unfounded. Police followed up on a resident’s concerns about a registered offender.

Thursday — Drugs were discovered during a traffic stop in the 200 block of S. Elm St., and an arrest was made. A driver in the 300 block of W. Grand Ave. was cited, and the driver’s vehicle towed, for having no registration and no insurance. A driver at Washington and 2nd Sts. was warned for not having trailer lights. A driver locked out of a vehicle received assistance. Questions about parking a camper trailer were answered.

Friday — A complaint about a dog in the 300 block of S. Washington St. was determined to be unfounded. A motorist in the 1000 block of S. Ash St. was warned for speeding. Police assisted in handing a civil issue involving property in the 200 block of N. Main St.

Saturday — Drivers were cited for speeding in the 1000 block of S. Ash St. and at US-56 and Adams St.

Sunday — An automated report of a traffic accident at 2nd and Lincoln Sts. was determined to be a false alarm. A resident reported that his phone number was being spoofed. A driver at Ash and Juniper Sts. was warned for speeding. A resident was helped with a civil property issue.

MARION

May 9 — An arrest on an unrelated municipal court warrant was made after police, responding to a complaint, attempted to warn against trespassing in the 600 block of W. Main St. A complaint of trash strewn around in the 200 block of N. 4th St. was investigated. Possible violation of an order of protection was reported. Suspicious activity in the 200 block of S. Freeborn St. was investigated. Information about an electrical issue was relayed to city crews. Property placed in police custody was returned. The welfare of a resident of the 100 block of N. Coble St. was checked.

May 10 — A disconnected 911 call from the baseball complex was determined to be accidental. Police were asked about a landlord/tenant issue in the 200 block of S. Freeborn St.

May 11 — A resident’s report of suspicious activity the night below was investigated. Police found no evidence of suspicious activity reported in the 400 block of Arbor St. Officers met with utility workers regarding hookups after a small electrical fire broke out near Arbor and Garfield Sts.

Thursday — An arrest was made after a domestic disturbance in the 300 block of Grant St. A wallet was reported lost. Items seized in a previous arrest were returned. A driver was warned for having a malfunctioning headlight.

Friday — Police checked on a complaint about children playing in a yard in the 400 block of S. Roosevelt St. Possible violation of an order of protection was investigated. No problems were found after a car alarm was reported on N. 1st St.

Saturday — A dog running free was returned to its owner. No action was taken after a disturbance was reported in the 1000 block of E. Main St., where Taco’s Food Truck and Casey’s General Store are located. No problems were found after investigating a report of suspicious activity reported in the 1500 block of Sandstone St., near where Rhino Car Wash is located. A driver was warned about an equipment violation.

Sunday — Three drivers were warned for equipment violations or speeding. Welfare of a resident of the 500 block of N. Cedar St. was checked.
