ACTIVITY REPORTS
Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.
HILLSBORO
Sept. 12 — A traffic stop for speeding on US-56 led to an arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence and other traffic charges. A dog running free in the 300 block of S. Main St. was taken to a veterinary clinic. Owners of two dogs running free near Hillsboro’s industrial park and of another dog running free in the Carriage Hills area were notified. A driver in the 200 block of S. Adams St. was warned about not signaling a turn and running a stop sign.
Sept. 13 — A telecommunications line was discovered to be down at Cedar St. and Grand Ave. Welfare of a resident of the 200 block of S. Lincoln St. was checked.
Sept. 14 — A dog reportedly chasing a young bicycle rider was not found.
Thursday — Curfew was enforced in the city park. Police participated in school events.
Friday —A driver in the 400 block of E. D St. was ticketed for driving left of center and having an expired license. A motorist on 190th Rd. was warned about speeding. Another on Orchard Dr. was warned about an equipment violation. A report of a dog running free on Lincoln St. could not be verified.
Saturday — A motorist wanted on two warrants was arrested after marijuana and drug paraphernalia were recovered during investigation of a non-injury accident at Ash and D Sts. Police met with a resident about drinking beer on city property. A driver in the 400 block of S. Lincoln St. was ticketed for having an expired license plate. Welfare of a resident of the 300 block of W. 3rd St. was checked.
Sunday — A motorist was warned about a parking violation in the 300 block of Ash St. Once again, welfare of a resident of the 300 block of W. 3rd St. was checked. No problems were discovered when checking on a disconnected 911 call that originated from Parkside Homes.
MARION
Sept. 12 — Theft of tools from the 100 block of W. Main St. was investigated. Police determined that no crime occurred during a disturbance in the 400 block of S. Roosevelt St.
Sept. 13 — A disturbance in the 500 block of Walnut St. resulted in an arrest on suspicion of domestic battery. A motorist who drove off without paying for gasoline returned and paid. A driver was cited for going 90 mph in a 65-mph zone at US-56 and Cedar St. A dog running free in the 200 block of S. Lincoln St. was picked up by its owner.
Sept. 14 — Police attempted to help sheriff’s deputies locate a person who, according to monitored transmissions, yelled at law enforcement officers at the courthouse. An out-of-town visitor who was found lying on the ground at Marion’s airport was taken to the county lake for a place to stay. A burglar alarm at Marion Senior Center was mistakenly activated several times.

Friday — A child who ran out of school was located and returned.
Saturday — Routine activities, including patrolling Art in the Park.
Sunday — No problems were found when checking a disconnected 911 call that originated from the 600 block of S. Lincoln St.
PEABODY
Sept. 12 — Routine activities.
Sept. 13 — Information about a theft was passed along to the sheriff’s office.
Sept. 14 — Citations were issued after a dog was found running free in the 600 block of N. Locust St. Another dog was picked up and taken to a holding facility.
Thursday and Friday — Routine activities.
Saturday — A person was asked to leave a residence in the 500 block of N. Locust St.
Sunday — Routine activities.
