ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

Dec. 13 — A driver who was stopped at 2nd and Adams Sts. for having an illegal tag was arrested on suspicion of possessing a small amount of opioids and having no insurance. Police investigated a reckless driving complaint at Memorial Park. A juvenile who was acting up was taken to a juvenile detention center by a parent. Police helped a resident set up security cameras, checked a false alarm at Emprise Bank, investigated a report of a suspicious person, and met about a wild animal trapper working in town.

Dec. 14 — A driver in the 300 block of S. Lincoln St. was warned for speeding. A complaint about a barking dog in the 600 block of S. Ash St. was investigated. In separate incidents, a license tag and a wallet were reported lost. Police were called to a residence regarding a mental health issue. A family member took care of the situation.

Thursday — No one involved wanted charges to be filed after police responded to a fight at Hillsboro High School. A package thought to be suspicious in the 400 block of N. Ash St. turned out to be legitimate. A resident reported that his former girlfriend was calling him names. An officer blocked entry into the city from US-56 and Ash St. during a high-speed chase that originated in Harvey County .

Friday — Police checked on the welfare of a resident.

Saturday — Three motorists were warned about traffic violations.

MARION

Police made one traffic stop during the week.

Dec. 12 — Two reportedly reckless drivers were not found. A false alarm summoned police to a business in the 1100 block of E. Main St.

Dec. 13 — A resident reported a potential scam.

Dec. 14 — Police helped a resident accidentally locked out of a home. A loose dog was taken to a veterinary clinic.

Thursday — A high-speed chase went by the north end of town.

Friday — A dog bite was reported in the 500 block of S. Freeborn St. The dog was placed under quarantine for 10 days.

An open door was reported in the 400 block of N. Freeborn St. No problems were found when police checked on a resident of the 200 block of S. Cedar St.

Saturday — A non-injury accident at Thorp and Lawrence Sts. was reported. A resident reported a possible scam.
