ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. MARION

Jan. 9 — Debris reported in the roadway at Main and Cedar Sts. had been removed by the time police arrived.

Jan. 10 — A possible fraud was reported. Police responded to reports of possibly suicidal people in the 300 block of Locust St. and the 200 block of S. Cedar St.

Jan. 11 — Routine activities.

Thursday — Items were removed from an alley north of Main St. A dog running free in the 200 block of Locust St. eluded capture.

Friday — Police spoke to a person about a vehicle illegally parked on N Cedar St.

Saturday — No crime was determined to have occurred at a domestic disturbance in the 300 block of Fink St., the same block where police also responded to a report of a possibly suicidal person.

Sunday — The owner of dogs running free in the 200 block of S. Freeborn St. was located and able to get the dogs back inside a fence. A passer-by reported that a door was left open at D&J Liquors, but store employees and owners reported nothing had been taken. A report of a woman screaming in the 600 block of N. Cedar St. turned out being misheard sounds from kids playing basketball. Police helped a stranded motorist change a flat tire at Casey’s General Store.

HILLSBORO

Jan. 9 — A dog owner in the 200 block of N. Main St. was ticketed for allowing the dog to run free. Another dog was reported to be running loose in the 600 block of S. Main St. Hillsboro Community Hospital alerted police to a possibly drunken driver who had left the hospital heading east on US-56. A vehicle illegally parked at C and Adams Sts. was ticketed. A driver was warned for speeding.

Jan. 10 — Surveillance video was used to identify and arrest a suspect in an incident of vandalism to a car parked at Barkman Honey. Police also helped a person unlock a vehicle.

Jan. 11 — A no-trespassing order was served. Two dogs were reported loose near Birch and B Sts. A door-to-door salesman was reported in the 200 block of S. Wilson St. Police checked on a suspicious vehicle at Sonic Drive-In, helped unlock a vehicle, and changed a flat tire for a driver on US-56 at Nighthawk Rd.

Thursday — Welfare of a resident of the 400 block of N. Ash St. was checked.

Friday — Routine activities.

Saturday — Police investigated a complaint about a dog and about neighbors not getting along in the 300 block of S. Washington St.

Sunday — An armadillo in Pizza Hut’s parking lot was moved to a field. A dog was reportedly to be running free at Wendy’s. Another dog reportedly was barking in the 600 block of S. Main St.
