ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

July 3 — A driver was ticketed for not displaying a license plate at US-56 and Jade Rd. Police provided traffic control for a stalled motorist at Orchard Dr. and Western Heights Cir. A citizen reported a property issue that was deemed a civil matter. No problems were found in checking on the welfare of a person at Ampride.

July 4 — Drivers were warned at US-56 and Orchard Dr. for speeding and at US-56 and Kanza Rd. for an equipment violation. Police talked to a resident of the 200 block of N. Lincoln St. about fireworks trash in the street. No problems were found when checking on a possibly abandoned vehicle at K-15 and 220th Rd. A resident reported concerns, deemed a civil matter, about a cell phone contract.

Thursday — A psychiatric patient was taken to Hillsboro Community Hospital from the 200 block of S. Jefferson St. An open door in the 200 block of S. Wilson St. was secured, and the area checked. Police talked to a resident near C and Oak Sts. about fireworks rules. A report of fireworks being discharged in the 100 block of N. Jefferson St. was deemed unfounded. No problems were found when checking on the welfare of a resident of the 300 block of N. Adams St.

Friday — A resident complained about baby skunks in the 300 block of N. Lincoln St. Police talked to juveniles about fireworks rules, gave a resident a ride from HCH, and helped a person locked out of a vehicle. A lost cell phone was reported. A vacation house watch was arranged.

Saturday — A domestic disturbance in the 200 block of S. Jefferson St. resulted in an arrest on suspicion of criminal damage to property. A driver in the 600 block of S. Main St. was cited for not wearing a seat belt. Police gave a citizen a ride to residence in town.

Sunday — A report of juveniles with guns in the 500 block of W. Grand Ave. was deemed unfounded.

Citing privacy concerns, police chief Gideon Cody has discontinued providing weekly reports of Marion officers’ activity.
