ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

July 24 — A driver in the 800 block of E. D St. was warned for speeding. According to monitored transmissions, a text asking an out-of-town friend to call 911 for a juvenile at Main Street Ministries was addressed by an officer and two sheriff’s deputies. A burglar alarm at Ampride appeared to have been accidentally activated.

July 25 — An accident in 300 block of S. Ash St. was investigated. A reportedly reckless driver at the fairgrounds was identified but had left before an officer arrived. Questions about vehicle identification records and using micro utility vehicles within the city were answered. Suspicious activity involving a peddler was reported.

July 26 — A business’s advertising sign was reported missing. Information was taken for a Department of Children and Families report.

Thursday — A dog running free was picked up and returned to its owner with a warning. A third party reported harassment by a suspicious person. Police helped with an out-of-control juvenile at Prairie View mental health clinic, according to monitored transmissions. A disconnected 911 call from the 400 block of S. Birch St. was attributed to equipment malfunction.

Friday — A motorist was cited for driving with a suspended license in the 500 block of N. Ash St. Suspicious activity was reported in the 300 block of S. Birch St. A motorist conducting routine vehicle maintenance in a roadway was informed that doing so violated a city ordinance. A property dispute and possible damage to vegetation were investigated. A question about eviction was answered.

Saturday — Property damage was reported in the 200 block of S. Washington St.

Citing supposed concerns about privacy, Marion police have declined to provide a weekly report of their activities.
