ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

Nov. 6 — Police met with a resident about a civil issue involving a rental property.

Nov. 7 — Police stood by while utilities to a residence in the 300 block of N. Washington St. were shut off.

Nov. 8 — Drivers were warned for making a J-turn in the 100 block of S. Main St. and for speeding in the 900 block of E. D St. A fender-bender in a private parking lot was investigated. A resident reported a discrepancy regarding an online payment.

Thursday — Police attempted to serve a warrant, provided directions to a motorist, and met with a resident about eviction from a rental property.

Friday — Damage caused by an evicted resident re-entering a rental property in the 100 block of N. Adams St. was investigated as was damage to a duplex’s door handle in the 300 block of N. Washington St. Police again attempted to serve a warrant, stood by during a mental health concern, and helped a motorist with a bad battery start a vehicle at Main and A Sts.

Saturday — A door handle was broken on a van outside Main Street Ministries. A report of reckless driving in the 200 block of N. Jefferson St. was determined to be unfounded.

Sunday — A report of suspicious activity in the 200 block of N. Jefferson St. was determined to be unfounded.

MARION

Nov. 6 — An objection to a registered offender taking children to school was referred to the sheriff’s department. A driver was warned about running a stop sign and failing to signal a turn at Cedar and Kellison Sts. A deer reported to be in the road at US-56 and Industrial Rd. was not located.

Nov. 7 — Trash was reported to have been dumped in a creek. Police could not locate a suspect to serve an arrest warrant in the 900 block of Highland St. A truck left in drive crashed into a wall across the street from where it was parked at a polling station.

Nov. 8 — Police helped clean up trash that was reported the day before and responded to a death discovered by a senior center meal delivery driver. A cell phone was found by a resident of the 200 block of N. Cedar St. Open doors were found at a building in the 200 block of E. Main St. and a vehicle in the 500 block of S. Freeborn St. Police responded to a malfunctioning alarm in the 1100 block of E. Main St.

Thursday — St. Luke Clinic reported a cat bite. A cell phone found the day before was returned to its owner. A driver at Main and Freeborn St. was stopped for a seatbelt violation.

Friday — The VFW post notified police of a patron who no longer was welcome there. No one was located when police attempted to check on the welfare of a resident of the 300 block of Garfield St.
