ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

Christmas — Two dogs were reported loose in the 100 block of N. Wilson St. A driver stuck in mud at 340th and Indigo Rds. was referred to local towing firms.

Dec. 26 — A resident who complained about getting a bill from a Texas tollway he had never driven on was told to contact tollway authorities. Two dogs were reported loose near Jefferson and 2nd Sts. A motorist called about being stuck in mud at 180th and Indigo Rds.

Dec. 27 — An unattended death, apparently of natural causes, was discovered when checking on the welfare of a resident of Oakwood Manor apartments. A resident contacted police about odd text messages she received from her aunt. A non-injury accident at Ampride was investigated. A driver at Grand Ave. and Birch St. was warned for not using headlights when required. A locksmith’s contact information was provided to a person who locked his keys in a car. A dog was reported to be running loose in the 300 block of S. Ash St.

Thursday — A resident complained that someone had let his dogs out of a fenced-in area in the 200 block of N. Jefferson St. A warning from the state fire marshal about the possibility of bomb threat hoaxes being delivered to hospitals was relayed to Hillsboro Community Hospital. A driver near Container Services was warning for speeding. Police stood by during a civil matter at Barkman Honey and spoke with a resident about a future civil standby. Tow truck numbers were given to an Amazon driver stuck in mud near 170th and Jade Rds. A resident asked about training for the carrying of concealed weapons.

Friday — Police checked on the welfare of a dog in the 500 block of N. Ash St. A driver at Ash and A Sts. was warned about a malfunctioning headlight. Police stood by during a civil matter in the 400 block of S. Main St. A resident complained about parking at 3rd and Lincoln Sts.

Saturday — Questions about shooting fireworks on New Year’s Eve and about a civil property matter were answered.

New Year’s Eve — A driver at Ash and A Sts. was ticketed for running a stop sign, having no liability insurance, and having an expired license plate. Drivers were warned at Main and A St. for failing to use a turn signal, at D and Birch Sts. and at Ash and A Sts. for running stop signs, and at D and Lincoln Sts. for having a headlight out.

MARION

Dec. 26 — Police talked to a property owner about a parking complaint in the 1500 block of Sandstone Rd. in Marion’s business park.

Dec. 27 — A dog reported to be loose in the 400 block of Walnut St. was not found. Police stood by during a civil matter in the 100 block of Ashley Dr. A driver was warned for speeding near Main and 4th Sts. Police talked to residents about a traffic citation and an animal complaint.

Thursday — Police talked to a resident about illegal parking in the 400 block of Locust St. A dog loose in the 400 block of Walnut St. was retrieved by its owner. Two drivers were warned for equipment violations near US-56 and Cedar St. Police talked to a resident about standing by during a civil matter.

Friday — A driver in the 400 block of E. Main St. was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, transporting an open container of alcohol, and failing to stop at an accident. A delayed report of a domestic dispute in the 700 block of N. Cedar St. remains under investigation. No problems were noted in checking on the welfare of a resident of the 1500 block of E. Main St.
