ACTIVITY REPORTS
Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.
HILLSBORO
Jan. 29 — A bat reported to be inside a house in the 200 block of S. Birch St. was not found. Police investigated a noise complaint from the 200 block of Date St. and talked to a resident about standing by during a civil matter in the 400 block of S. Main St.
Jan. 30 — Drivers in the 900 block of E. D St. and at 190th and Nighthawk Rds. were warned for speeding. A Tabor College student locked out of a vehicle received contact information for locksmiths. Another motorist was helped at Jade Rd. and US-56. Questions about using ATVs in the city were answered.
Jan. 31 — A sink hole was reported in the 300 block of S. Washington St. No problems were found in checking the welfare of a resident of the 100 block of N. Washington St. Police met with Hillsboro’s code inspector about a residence in the 100 block of N. Cedar St.
Thursday — Police investigated a noise complaint from the 100 block of N. Washington St. A wallet was reported lost. A bumper that had fallen from a vehicle was removed from US-56 and Commerce St.
Friday — A driver at D and Washington Sts. was warned for speeding. A city crew was told about a water leak in the 100 block of S. Jefferson St.
Saturday — A dog was reported loose outside the city limits. No problems were found in checking the welfare of a resident of the 400 block of S. Lincoln St. Phone numbers for locksmiths again were conveyed. A vehicle reportedly being driven recklessly at 190th and Nighthawk Rds. was found in Marion,
Sunday — A dog reportedly loose at Ash and D Sts. was not found. A 911 hangup from Great Plains Federal Credit Union was checked, but the business was closed, and no one was inside.
MARION
Jan. 29 — A driver was warned for speeding at US-56 and Cedar St.
Jan. 30 — Drivers were warned at Main and 5th Sts. for an equipment violation and at Main and 2nd St. for traveling the wrong way on a one-way street. Four drivers were warned near US-56 and Cedar St. — two for speeding and two for equipment violations.
Jan. 31 — Two drivers near US-56 and Cedar St. were warned for speeding. The department’s drug-sniffing dog was deployed at a traffic stop on K-150, but no arrests were made. No problems were noted after checking on a vehicle parked in the Prairieland Partners parking lot. A suspicious person was reported in Central Park. No problems were found in checking on a report of suspicious activity in the 500 block of Locust St. A parking complaint on Victory Lane was investigated.
Thursday — A fight was reported in the 1000 block of Lawrence St., but police report no problems upon their arrival.
Friday — A complaint from a resident in the 300 block of N. Lincoln St. was deemed a civil matter.
Saturday — Police talked to a door-to-door salesperson and found no criminal activity at a disturbance in the 200 block of N. Roosevelt St.
