ACTIVITY REPORTS
Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.
HILLSBORO
Feb. 12 — After two interviews at police headquarters, a Hillsboro man was arrested on sexual assault charges involving a victim younger than 14. A runaway juvenile from Prairie View Mental Health Center returned a short time later. A semitrailer truck broke down on US-56 at Santa Fe St. Police stood by during a civil matter in the 100 block of N. Jefferson St.
Feb. 13 — Nothing was found in checking on reports of excessive noise in the 500 block of S. Adams St., gunshots in the 700 block of W. Grand Ave. and a suspicious vehicle in the 300 block of N. Main St. Problems with an out-of-control juvenile in the 200 block of S. Madison St. were worked out. An alarm at 2S Outdoor Power accidentally was activated.
Feb. 14 — Police did not locate a reportedly suspicious person walking on a city path near Hillsboro Community Hospital. A resident reported a possible scam.
Thursday — Police stood by during an employee termination at Barkman Honey and during a civil matter in the 100 block of N. Jefferson St. A Texas license plate was found in the 300 block of N. Ash St. A disconnected 911 call from the Hillsboro High School gymnasium was attributed to a child playing with a phone. A driver was cited for not displaying a license plate in the 300 block of N. Main St. Police installed a child seat for a grandparent caregiver and provided enough gas for a stranded driver at Dollar General’s parking lot to get to McPherson.
Saturday — Residents reported a possible scam and a sewer backup in the 200 block of E. 1st St. A stray dog at Washington and 1st Sts. was reunited with its owner. Police spoke to drivers parking in the wrong direction on N. Jefferson St.
Sunday — Nothing was found in investigating an automated 911 call from near Parkside Homes.
MARION
Feb. 13 — Police followed up on an animal bite reported in the 1200 block of E. Main St. A trespassing complaint was made in the 400 block of S. Roosevelt St. Police helped jump-start a vehicle. A driver was warned for speeding near US-56 and Cedar St.
Feb. 14 — A fender-bender in the 1100 block of Weldon St., a suspicious plastic bag found in Central Park, and an unspecified complaint at Marion Middle School were investigated.
Friday — A car door was found open in the 200 block of Grant St.
Saturday — A burglary, details of which were not disclosed, was investigated in the 300 block of Fink St. No problems were found in checking a report of an intruder in one of the 100 blocks of Cedar St.
Sunday — Drivers were warned for speeding at US-56 and Timber Rd. and for an equipment violation at Coble and Nickerson Sts. A car-deer accident was reported in the 900 block of N. Cedar St.
