ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

Aug. 26 — A shoplifter at Ampride returned to pay and was not arrested. A driver in the 100 block of N. Main St. was warned for making a J-turn. An unwanted visitor was warned not to trespass.

Aug. 27 — A driver was ticketed for speeding in the 100 block of E. D St., where another driver was warned, also for speeding. No problems were found in checking on a disconnected 911 call from the 200 block of S. Birch St.

Aug. 28 — Police apprehended a driver after a high-speed chase that ended on Hillsboro streets. A driver was warned for disobeying a “do not enter” sign at A and Wilson Sts. Police helped with a lockdown drill at Hillsboro High School.

Thursday — Police met with a resident who unwittingly tried to pass a counterfeit $100 bill. A fender-bender was investigated in the 100 block of N. Lincoln St. A resident’s traffic complaint led to a driver being warned for running a stop sign.

Friday — After police intervened, a resident provided shelter for a dog left outside. An armadillo was relocated from the 200 block of Kennedy St. No problem was found in checking on a report of a suspicious person at Tabor College. A found cell phone was turned in to police. A driver was ticketed for speeding at US-56 and Ash St. Another was warned for having a defective headlight at Adams and D Sts.

Saturday — Police directed traffic after a mattress fell from a vehicle. Drivers were warned for using off-road lights in the 300 block of N. Ash St. and for having a headlight out at US-56 and Adams St.

Sunday — A cell phone that fell off a vehicle generated a false alarm that a collision had occurred. Police tried to locate a dog reported to be loose in the 400 block of S. Lincoln St

MARION

Aug. 26 — A runaway juvenile was located in the 200 block of N. 1st St. A wallet found by a resident was turned over to police, who returned it to its owner. Police dealt with a student who left Oasis special education school. They also investigated a parking complaint at St. Luke Hospital and a complaint about a civil issue. A driver was warned for defective equipment at US-56 and Industrial St.

Aug. 27 — Drivers were warned for speeding at Main and 4th Sts. and at US-56 and Industrial St. and for having defective equipment at Main and 5th Sts. No problems were found in checking on a resident of the 300 block of S. Cedar St.

Aug. 28 — A resident with questions about a wreck in Newton was referred to Newton police. Police helped a driver with a disabled vehicle in the 1000 block of E. Main St.

Thursday — Ronnie P. Winters, 29, Marion, was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage to property after a disturbance, still under investigation, in the 400 block of S. Roosevelt St.

Friday — Police helped a driver with a flat tire on Sunflower Rd. Drivers were warned for defective equipment at Main St. and Eisenhower Dr. and at US-56 and Industrial St. and for speeding at US-56 and Industrial St. A sobriety test and deployment of a drug dog found no evidence a crime.

Saturday — Drivers were warned for making an illegal U-turn at Main and 4th Sts. and for defective equipment and another equipment violation at US-56 and Industrial St
