ACTIVITY REPORTS
Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.
HILLSBORO
March 31 — An issue involving a juvenile in the 100 block of Elm St. was investigated.
April 1 — A resident reported losing a 60-day license tag. A driver was warned for failing to yield in the 700 block of E. C St. No problems were found when police investigated a perimeter alarm sounding at the city’s field of solar panels.
April 2 — Police dealt with a parking complaint at Hillsboro Senior Center and followed up on a driving complaint involving a juvenile.
Thursday — A vehicle window was reported broken, but no report was taken. Police took a person with a mental health issue to Prairie View in Newton. A report of a loose dog outside the city was forwarded to the sheriff’s department. A dog loose in the city was removed from the city. Police investigated an accidentally activated alarm at Great Plains Federal Credit Union. Streetlights were checked. An officer organized a drug take-back event scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 25.
Friday — Police talked to a resident about an issue involving stray cats. A loose dog was returned to its owner. A driver was warned for an emissions issue in the 400 block of W. D St.
Saturday — Routine activities.
Sunday — A report of an odor of burnt marijuana at a duplex in the 300 block of N. Lincoln St. resulted in seizure of drug-related items. Police provided directions to a motorist.
MARION
March 31 — A wreck in the 100 block of N. 3rd St. was investigated. A vehicle involved in a driving complaint at Main and Walnut Sts. was not found. No problems were found in checking on a resident of the 600 block of S. Freeborn St. or in checking on an alarm in the 500 block of Walnut St.
April 1 — A misdelivered package was redelivered to the 200 block of S. Lincoln St. Possibly suspicious activity was reported in the 300 block of S. 1st St. No problems again were found in checking on a resident in the 600 block of S. Freeborn St.
April 2 — A wreck in the 200 block of Elm St. was investigated. Police talked to a resident in the 300 block of N. 3rd St. about an animal complaint and to a person in the 1500 block of Lawrence St. about a civil matter. A driver was warned for speeding near US-56 and Timber Rd.
Thursday — A driver was ticketed for not having insurance near Freeborn and Hudson Sts. Another driver was warned for speeding near US-56 and Cedar St.
Friday — A wreck in the 400 block of W. Santa Fe St. occurred on private property, and no official accident report was issued. Police helped sheriff’s deputies make a traffic stop in the 1100 block of E. Main St. A driver was ticketed for having no insurance near Lawrence and Freeborn Sts. Other drivers were warned for having a defective license plate light near Freeborn and Nickerson Sts. and for having a defective taillight near Roosevelt and Weldon Sts.
Saturday — Police spoke to someone in the 200 block of Miller St. about a driving complaint. Drivers were warned for defective tag lights near 4th and Main Sts. and US-56 and Cedar St. and for a defective headlight near US-56 and Cedar St.
