ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies generally agents are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

Aug. 11 — A door-to-door salesperson was found to comply with city code. Police used radar to check speeds in the 100 block of S. Main St. after receiving complaints about speeding there. Kids yelling at the city park were having a verbal disagreement. Police talked to a resident about a civil matter.

Aug. 12 — Multiple charges are being sought after police investigated a wreck at Pine and C Sts. No problems were found in investigating a report of yelling in the 300 block of N. Main St.

Aug. 13 — Police met with Department of Children and Families agents about an investigation, talked to a resident about a civil matter, and received a complaint about traffic at the fairgrounds.

Thursday — Police received a complaint about a military helicopter shining lights outside of town. A possible scam was reported. A person complained about trespassing in the 800 block of W. D. St. Police checked streetlights for the city electric department.

Friday — A possible scam was reported.

Saturday — People yelling at Sonic Drive-In were located and quieted. Police talked to a resident about a restraining order and patrolled Tabor College as more students began arriving on campus.

Sunday — Police talked to a landlord about civil issues involving a tenant.

MARION

Aug. 11 — A driver was warned for speeding at US-56 and Cedar St.

Aug. 12 — A plastic bag containing 1.5 grams (about seven doses) of what police said probably was methamphetamine was discovered by a patron around noon on the ground in a parking lot at Casey’s General Store. Ownership of the bag was not determined. Because of the cost of testing, contents were destroyed rather than being tested. Police and sheriff’s deputies located on Locust St. in Peabody a trailer stolen from the 100 block of Walnut St. A driver locked keys in a vehicle in the 1200 block of E. Main St. No problems were found in checking on possible trespassing in the 600 block of S. Freeborn St. Two drivers were warned for speeding at US-56 and Cedar St.

Aug 13 — Police provided a ride to a resident’s home in the 300 block of S. 3rd St. A stick with nails reported in an alley between N. Freeborn St. and N. Coble St. was not located. A driver was warned for speeding at US-56 and Timber Rd.

Thursday — A white truck reportedly being driven improperly in the 200 block of E. Main St. was not located. No problems were found in checking on a disconnected 911 call from the 100 block of S. Freeborn St. Drivers were warned for running a stop sign at Coble and Lawrence Sts. and for an equipment violation at Main and Elm Sts.

Friday — An unwanted visitor was told to leave the Historic Elgin Hotel. An open door at the Sports and Aquatics Center was checked. Police determined no crime was committed during a disturbance in the 200 block of Forest St. A driver was warned for an equipment violation at US-56 and Cedar St.

Saturday — Police and firefighters responded to a false alarm at Orsted’s Sunflower Wind building in the city’s industrial park. A 911 call from the 200 block of E. Main St. was determined to have been accidental.

Sunday — A window broken at Gambino’s Pizza was determined to have been damaged for some time. Police and sheriff’s deputies were called to a disturbance on Pioneer Ct. at Marion County Lake.
