ACTIVITY REPORTS
Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.
HILLSBORO
March 2 — A suspicious person reported near Dollar General was not found. Police helped Kansas Bureau of Investigation with an investigation and Hillsboro firefighters deal with a cooler compressor that overheated in the Tabor College coffee shop.
March 3 — Drivers were ticked for having expired registration in the 400 block of S. Main St. and warned for speeding in the 600 block of E. D St.
March 4 — Property damage reported in the 100 block of N. Birch St. was investigated. Police talked to a resident about a civil matter.
Thursday — A vehicle backing out of driveway struck a legally parked vehicle in the 600 block of S. Washington St. A suspicious person was reported in the 200 block of S. Cedar St. Fuel was provided for a vehicle stranded at Ash and D St. Police again talked to a resident about a civil matter and checked on a person at Dollar General.
Friday — A driver was warned for having loud exhaust at Casey’s General Store. A locksmith was identified for a driver who had locked keys in a vehicle. A disconnected 911 call in the 200 block of E. A St. was investigated.
Saturday — No one was found when investigating a report of people yelling from a vehicle in the 300 block of S. Date St. A disconnected 911 call in the 100 block of S. Lincoln St. was investigated.
Sunday — A driver was ticketed for having no tag on a trailer pulling more than 2,000 pounds at Casey’s. Police helped a driver whose car broke down in the 300 block of S. Washington St.
MARION
March 2 — A vehicle was searched, but no charges were pursued. Drivers were warned for speeding and an equipment violation at US-56 and Timber Rd.
March 3 — A dog loose at 5th and Santa Fe Sts. was taken to a veterinary clinic.
March 4 — A dog was reported loose in the 100 block of S. Roosevelt St., and two others were reported loose near the city baseball fields. Police stood by during a civil matter in the 200 block of S. Cedar St. Drivers were for speeding and an equipment violation at US-56 and Cedar St. and US-56 and Timber Rd.
Thursday — A dog was reported loose in the 100 block of Washington St. Police helped the sheriff’s office with sheep loose at the US-56/77/K-150 roundabout. Three drivers were warned for speeding or equipment violations at US-56 and Timber Rd. and at Main and 5th Sts. One of the stopped vehicles was searched, but no charges were pursued.
Friday — A wreck in the 600 block of Hudson St. was investigated. An unwanted visitor was told to leave a home in the 400 block of S. Roosevelt St. A dog was reported loose on N. 4th St.
Saturday — No problems were found in checking on reports of disturbances in the 600 block of N. Cedar St. and the 1000 block of Hudson St. A driver was warned for speeding near Main and Billings Sts. A resident had questions about obtaining a special vehicle permit.
Sunday — Police investigated a report of possible gunshots along 3rd St near the edge of town.
