ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies generally are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

July 13 — A false alarm at Dollar General was investigated. Police answered questions about child custody. A business with an open door after hours was checked, and the door was secured.

July 14 — For three days, police helped with an investigation by the Department of Children and Families. They also met with a resident about installing a child safety seat.

July 15 — Two drivers were arrested after traffic stops — one for driving with a revoked license in the 200 block of W. Grand Ave. and the other for possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia and having no license or insurance in the 400 block of W. D. St. Other drivers were ticketed for having excessively tinted windows in the 400 block of Orchard Dr. and for having an expired license in the 400 block of S. Main St. A tractor reportedly interfered with traffic safety on US-56. Police removed debris from a roadway.

Thursday — A false alarm at Vintage Bank Kansas was investigated. Police checked streetlights.

Friday — A dropped smart phone generated a false alert of a traffic accident. A driver was ticketed after a wreck at Ash and D Sts. Police talked to a resident about telephone harassment.

Saturday — Police helped a sheriff’s deputy look for a vehicle at Main and F Sts.

Sunday — A 14-year-old is suspected of breaking door glass and stealing candy from Ampride.

MARION

July 13 — A wreck at Lawrence and Freeborn Sts. was investigated. What might have been stalking and trespassing was reported to the 400 block of N. Roosevelt St. A driver was warned for speeding on US-56 at Timber Rd.

July 14 — A driver was warned for an equipment violation on US-56 at Timber Rd.

July 15 — No problems were found in investigating two reports of possible frauds, including one at Carlsons’ Grocery, and a report of a disturbance in the 600 block of N. Cedar St.

Thursday — A lost debit card was returned. Police responded with the sheriff’s office to a report of a possible underage drinking party at Marion County Park and Lake; no further details were released.

Friday — A resident complained about a neighbor. Police talked to a person about an ongoing case and helped with city code enforcement. A dog loose in the 300 block of S. Cedar St. was taken to a veterinary clinic. Police talked to several juveniles about curfew.

Saturday — A one-vehicle wreck in the 300 block of Burbridge St. remains under investigation. Police helped the sheriff’s office with an unspecified disturbance west of town.

Sunday — A report of a possible burglary was forwarded to the sheriff’s office after it was determined it occurred outside the city. Warnings for speeding and equipment violations were issued in five traffic stops on US-56 at Timber Rd. and at Cedar St.
