INCIDENT REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded.

HILLSBORO

Dec. 23 — Officers investigated a dog complaint in the 300 block of S. Ash St. and assisted a motorist on US-56.

Dec. 24 — A verbal confrontation between a father and a son in the 400 block of E. 1st St. and a disconnected 911 call in the 200 block of S. Kennedy St. were investigated.

Dec. 26 — Lost property was returned to its owner, a suspicious vehicle in the 400 block of S. Main St. was investigated, and the welfare of a resident of the 100 block of S. Elm St. was checked.

Dec. 27 — A non-injury accident in Hillsboro Heights and a report of a possibly intoxicated driver were investigated. Officers also discovered a water leak on Park Ave.

Dec. 28 — Routine matters only.

Dec. 29 — Officers assisted a motorist on US-56.

Dec. 31 – A laptop belonging to Marion school district was report stolen from a vehicle in the 400 block of N. Main St. A dog reported to be roaming free was claimed by its owner.

Jan. 1 — A report of a natural gas odor in the 400 block of S. Washington St. proved unfounded.

Jan. 2 — A dog reported to be roaming free was claimed by its owner.

Jan. 3 — A reportedly suicidal person at Ash St. and US-56 was taken to Hillsboro Community Hospital for evaluation.

Jan. 4 — Firefighters were not needed for a small fire in the 300 block of N. Birch St.

Jan. 5 — A drive-through outer window and front door at Hillsboro Hometown Pharmacy were broken, but nothing was reported taken.

Jan. 7 — A small child reportedly left alone on the Tabor College campus could not be located.

MARION

Dec. 24 — Jennifer Wyss, 37, Marion, was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery after an incident at 4:09 p.m. in the 500 block of N. Freeborn St.. A motorist was cited for driving with a suspended license. A report of reckless driving was investigated.

Dec. 25 — Errant triggering of a burglar alarm at a business in the 1200 block of E. Main St. was investigated. A dog roaming free near Cedar and Lawrence Sts. was returned to its owner.

Dec. 26 — Chad Griese, 35, Herington, was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery and criminal damage to property after being stopped in the 500 block of E. Main St. following a disturbance at 4:30 p.m. in the 400 block of S. 4th St.

City crews were notified of a water line break near Lawrence and Roosevelt Sts. A disconnected 911 call from the 200 block of N. Roosevelt St. and an errant commercial alarm on 3rd St. were investigated.

Dec. 27 — Routine matters only.

Dec. 28 — City crews were notified of faulty streetlights, investigated suspicious activity in the 300 block of S. 3rd St., assisted a stranded motorist, and warned a motorist at 5th and Main Sts. about driving with a frost-obstructed windshield.

Dec. 29 — Officers took a report of vehicle possibly stolen elsewhere, investigated a car-deer accident on US-56 near Cedar St., warned a motorist about speeding at 3rd and Main Sts., helped another motorist near Marion Elementary School, removed roadway debris near Coble and Main Sts., and investigated what apparently was an unfounded report of underage drinking on Quail Creek Rd.

Dec. 30 — Officers arranged to stand by during a civil matter.

Dec. 31 — A possible vehicle theft remains under investigation. A report of an impaired driver proved unfounded.

Jan. 1 — Police stood by during a civil matter in the 500 block of N. Freeborn St. A motorist was warned for driving the wrong way on a one-way street. A citation was issued for expired registration. A motorist was warned for having a headlight out in the 300 block of S. Third St.

Jan. 2 — An owner of a dog roaming free in the 200 block of N. Cedar St. was contacted. A motorist was warned for speeding near Main and Locust Sts.

Jan. 3 — A motorist was warned for having a headlight out near Third and Main Sts. A traffic stop was conducted near Denver Rd. on Eisenhower Rd.

Jan. 4 — A motorist was warned for having an unrestrained child in the 1200 block of E. Main St. A motorist was warned for having a headlight out.

Jan. 5 — A motorist was issued a citation near Nickerson and Coble Sts. for driving against restrictions. A motorist was issued a citation at Main St. and Eisenhower Dr. for no proof of insurance.

Peabody

Dec. 24 — A health and safety investigation was opened at a residence.
