Activity reports

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded.

Hillsboro

July 1 – A 911 hang up was investigated in the 300 block of N. Birch St., and a resident received assistance hooking up a camper at Memorial Park. Parking complaints were investigated at 1st and Washington Sts.

July 2 – A 911 hang up was investigated in the 200 block of E. Grand Ave., and a motorist received assistance with a vehicle lockout.

July 3 – Officers investigated a vehicle’s window damage in the 300 block of S. Washington St., and assisted with an out-of-control juvenile in the 100 block of N. Washington St. A report of a reckless driver and a false alarm at Casey’s General Store both were investigated.

July 4 – A motorist was warned for a headlight out, and a welfare check was requested but no contact was made. Illegal substances were found in a vehicle in Ampride’s parking lot, but no suspects were found, and the matter remains under investigation.

July 5 – A loose bull was reported on the south side of Hillsboro along Ash St. but it was caught by the owner before officers arrived. Residents were warned for firework use on three occasions, and a motorist received assistance applying a vehicle’s license tag.

July 6 – A juvenile was warned for being out after curfew.

Marion

July 1 – Officers contacted a dog owner about a barking dog in the 400 block of Locust St., and an owner whose dog was tangled up in cable in the 200 block of N. Freeborn St. Motorists were warned for failure to stop at a stop sign in the 300 block of E. Main St., and for speeding near Roosevelt and Main Sts. A motorist received a citation for an illegally parked vehicle in the 1000 block of Hudson.

July 2 – Officers assisted an individual who tipped his wheelchair over in the 100 block of S. Thorp St. A motorist was warned for making a J-Turn near 3rd and Main Sts., and a motorist received a citation for speeding and an expired registration near 160th and Sunflower Rds. A motorist was warned for no headlight near Lincoln and Main Sts. Officers returned a phone call in reference to a civil matter.

July 3 – A motorist was warned for speeding and excessive exhaust in the 600 block of E. Main St. Officers took a report of possible damage to property in the 300 block of S. Freeborn St. Suspicious activity was investigated in the 600 block of E. Main St., and a motorist was warned for no tag light on US-56. An individual was transported to the McPherson County line following a disturbance report in the 1300 block of E. Main St.

July 4 – A lost cell phone was returned to its owner, and a motorist was arrested on suspicion of an expired license, driving against restrictions, and no proof of liability insurance in the 1000 block of E. Main St. Residents shooting fireworks near Cedar and Welch Sts. Were advised by officers to stay on private property. A motorist was warned for no tag light on US-56.

July 5 – Officers met with a resident about a possible trespassing incident. A Desert Storm Veteran’s hat was found, but the owner could not be located. Officers spoke with a resident about a protection order. A loose dog in the 1000 block of E. Main St. was taken to the Animal Health Center, and a motorist was warned for no turn signal in the 1200 block of E. Main St.

July 6 – Officers spoke with a resident about a child custody issue, and assisted a motorist locked out of their vehicle.

Peabody

July 3 – A vandalism incident was investigated at Peabody City Park.

July 4 – An Individual was warned for trespassing on private property.

July 5 – A report of a stolen vehicle tag was investigated.
