Possible child abuse investigated

Local officials are involved in an investigation with Wichita Police Department regarding a possible child abuse case. A child was transferred from Hillsboro Community Medical Center to Via Christi Medical Center-St. Francis Campus, Wichita Oct. 9. The case remains under investigation.

Oct. 5: Hillsboro Fire Department received assistance with an activated alarm at Tabor College. Assistance was provided to an individual with a protection of abuse order. Park City Police Department received assistance with an investigation. Dog complaints were filed in the 400 block of South Ash Street, 200 block of North Jefferson Street, and the 300 block of North Adams Street. Marion County Sheriff’s Department received assistance with an investigation and a complaint.

Oct. 6: Kansas Highway Patrol received assistance with evidence collection. A telephone harassment complaint was filed in the 200 block of South Cedar Street. Assistance was provided when a resident was locked out of a house. A child welfare concern was checked in the 300 block of South Birch.

Oct. 7: Hillsboro High School received assistance with a program. A traffic obstruction at Madison and Grand streets was removed. An individual was fingerprinted for employment purposes. A civil process was served in the 300 block of North Washington Street. A civil stand-by was provided in the 300 block of North Washington Street.

Oct. 8: Marion County Health Department and Hillsboro Elementary School received assistance with the “Walk Your Child to School Day.” A suspicious phone call was reported at Park Village which was determined to be a possible scam. A parking complaint was filed in the 400 block of South Adams Street. A traffic obstruction was removed in the 400 block of North Ash Street.

Oct. 9: Officers recovered stolen property. The sheriff’s department received assistance with assisting a motorist on Jade Road. A report was filed of individuals operating an unauthorized vehicle at Adams and D streets. Assistance was provided to the sheriff’s department with an investigation.

Oct. 10: An officer assisted SRS with an investigation. A civil stand-by was provided in the 300 block of North Washington Street. A one-year-old child was taken into police protective custody. Assistance was provided in locating a missing person following a welfare check. A phone harassment complaint was filed in the 100 block of North Cedar Street. A camper hook-up was provided at Memorial Park. A motorist received assistance at Adams and Second streets. AN individual was arrested for domestic violence in the 300 block of North Washington Street. A resident received assistance in the 200 block of South Washington Street after being locked out of a house. Suspicious activity was checked at Hillsboro Municipal Airport. Coffey County Sheriff’s Department received assistance with the execution of a warrant; the individual was located in Hillsboro and taken into custody by KHP and the sheriff’s department.

Oct. 11: An officer assisted SRS with an investigation. A dog complaint was filed in the 200 block of North Main Street. Suspicious activity was checked in Hillsboro Industrial Park. A noise complaint of a loud stereo in a vehicle was filed in the 400 block of South Jefferson Street. A K-9 unit attended training. A report of a stolen vehicle was made in the 200 block of North Adams Street and an individual reported his 1989 Honda Civic was stolen from a parking lot; the loss was valued at $500. An officer assisted a motorist at K-15 and U.S.-56.
