A program designed to prepare Project SEARCH interns for employment will get financial support at a raffle during Tabor College’s Nov. 26 basketball games.

Ticket sales will begin at 5 p.m. before the women’s game and continue through the first half of the men’s game.

The event will highlight Project SEARCH interns’ progress in the program, and raise money for operational costs.

“Many people do not know what Project SEARCH does here and the basketball game is a great way to show the community what is going on,” said Kristen Martens, interim business liaison for Project SEARCH. “We would love for the community to come out to support the interns. There will also be an Amazon gift basket raffle drawn during the men’s game.”

The program is focused on developing interns so each can obtain employment by the end of the program in May 2019. Highlighting the interns brings awareness to the community to enhance opportunities.

“This is a special event for our interns, as they have the opportunity to be highlighted for all their hard work and dedication to the program,” said Rob Haude, program coordinator. “We are thankful that Tabor has allowed Project SEARCH to be the focus of the halftime events, as well as the opportunity to raise money for Project SEARCH.”

With a raffle ticket purchase, participants will have an opportunity to win a $50 Amazon gift card, Fire TV Stick 4K, Amazon Echo Dot, and a Project SEARCH T-shirt. A winner will be drawn at halftime of the men’s game.

Interns for the 2018-19 school year are Justice Baugh, Jacob Clements, Abi Funk, and Aron Gunn, all of Hillsboro; Brock Mitchell, Florence; and Ryan Ronsse, McPherson.
