Ray Cook

Ray P. Cook, 67, died Feb. 5 at Newton Medical Center. 

Cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Peabody United Methodist Church.

He was born April 21, 1949, to Lawrence and Vivian (Loomis) Cook in Newton.

After high school, he graduated from barber school, and served with the Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked as a barber for 41 years in Newton.

On June 22, 1974, he married Marilyn Janzen. 

He was a member of Peabody United Methodist Church, and was past president of Marion County Ducks Unlimited.

He was preceded in death by infant children Randall Ray and Katrina Marie. 

He is survived by wife Marilyn Cook of Newton; daughter Sara Lyon of Newton; two grandchildren; and siblings Jenelle Cook of Denver, Colorado; Chris Cook of Farmington, New Mexico; and Carma Cook of Newton. 

Memorial funds have been established with Peabody United Methodist Church and Walton United Methodist Church.
