Ray Funk
Ray N. Funk, 84, of Newton, died Dec. 27, 2008, at his home.
Born March 9, 1924 at Newton, he was the son of Alvin R. and Elma (Schroeder) Funk.
He married Betty Lou Weinbrenner Aug. 22, 1947, in Reedly, Calif. She survives of the home.
He was a longtime Hillsboro resident, business owner, and a member of the founding group of Hillsboro Development Park. He and his wife retired four years ago and moved to Newton.
Other survivors include two sons, Mark Funk of North Newton and Rodney Funk of Lehigh; three daughters, Jan Kelly of Newton, Miriam Siebert of Marshfield, Mo., and Carole Brown of Cypress, Calif.; a sister, Fern Mishler of Ransom; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bethel College Mennonite Church with Heidi Regier Kreider officiating.
A private burial will be at Haven of Rest Cemetery, Hillsboro.
Memorial funds have been established with the Bethel College athletic department or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and can be made in care of Petersen Funeral Home, Newton.
