Marion Regier is a familiar face in a familiar space, but in a new role as of Monday as the new CEO of Hillsboro Community Hospital.
“It feels great to be back home,” Regier said. “I’m excited to work with staff who put high priority on quality patient care.”
Regier was chief financial officer of HCH from 1993 until fall 2010, when her talents were tapped by HCH owner HMC/CAH Consolidated, Inc. of Kansas City, Mo., to provide support for other system hospitals. She was named regional vice-president of finance in 2011.
“I stayed in Hillsboro for a while. The last several months I’ve been in Kansas City quite a bit,” Regier said.
When former HCH CEO Cheri Barton expressed an interest several weeks ago in relocating to Missouri to be closer to family, Regier was immediately in the mix of possible replacements, HMC/CAH Vice-President for Operations Bill May said.
“We talked about different candidates for the position — Marion was our choice,” May said. “She knows the hospital well, knows the community well. With Marion’s background in finance, I think it was a natural progression for her.”
Regier agreed there are advantages in her return to HCH.
“My familiarity with the hospital is beneficial because there’s not that learning curve,” Regier said. “I know a lot of members of the community; they’re familiar faces.”
Regier said leading the hospital in her hometown adds a special quality of investment as she works to make HCH the provider of choice for high-quality health care for Hillsboro-area residents.
“My feeling is that they’re members of my community, and you take ownership in that,” Regier said. “You want to make sure decisions are made with your own community in mind.”
