Restaurant owner arrested on 5 warrants

Staff writer

David Joch, part owner of Classics @ Olde Towne was arrested Jan. 2 by the Hillsboro Police Department in Hillsboro.

Joch was brought in for five outstanding warrants from the state of Wisconsin, which include check forgery, theft, and parole violation, Kinning said.

“He was an absconder,” Hillsboro Police Chief Dan Kinning said. “He was on parole and left the state. You can’t do that.”

Joch is currently being held at Marion County jail but law enforcement officers from Wisconsin have scheduled a time with the Marion County Sheriff’s office to come pick him up in the near future, Sheriff Robert Craft said.

Kinning found out about Joch’s warrants after an employee at the restaurant filed a complaint. The employee had a minor problem about payroll at the restaurant. Unrelated to anything at the restaurant, the warrants from Wisconsin appeared when Kinning entered Joch’s name in a database.

A story published in the Hillsboro Star Journal Nov. 16 stated that David and Kelly Joch, his wife, moved to Hillsboro in April from Kentucky.

The couple leased the restaurant from Tampa State Bank. Before that, David Joch was a herdsman for Klassen Dairy north of Hillsboro.
