Returning golfers have new coach

Counselor Max Venable is also the golf coach at Centre. He is working with three returning female players this fall.

Venable said he has played recreational golf and understands the game.

Besides teaching his players the main techniques of the sport, he makes sure they know golf etiquette, such as how to respect other players, correct holes made in the turf, and not step on another player’s line of play to the hole.

He teaches them how to study greens and select their shots.

Senior Mickey Spohn lettered last year. She went to a regional meet and scored 188. She hopes to improve on that this year.

Sophomores Cecilia Rziha and Samantha Engler continue to work on improving their skills.

“Each one of these girls is more than capable of working hard toward team and personal goals,” Venable said.
