Robert W. Nickel, 68, of Wichita, died March 6 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

Born Feb. 21, 1943, in Hillsboro, to Huldrich and Sarah (Rempel) Nickel, he was a locomotive engineer for 37 years with Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway Company.

Survivors include two sons, Chris and Tony of Wichita; two brothers, Jerry of Mercedes, Texas, and Cliff of Hillsboro; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Mennonite Church, Hillsboro. The Rev. Keith Harder will officiate.

Burial will be at Lehigh Mennonite Cemetery in rural Lehigh.

A memorial fund has been established with the American Diabetes Association in care of Jost Funeral Home, Hillsboro.
