Roby advances to state golf tournament

The Goessel Bluebird golf team wrapped up its season Monday, competing in the Hillsboro regional.

Braden Roby will be the sole Bluebird competing Monday at the Class 2A state championship at Pittsburg’s Crestwood Country Club.

Out of the six schools that managed to register a team score, Goessel’s 411 made for a fifth- place finish.

With an 87, Roby paced the Bluebirds for 10th out of 40 competitors.

Dylan Lindeman managed to finish in the top 20, shooting a 100 for 19th.

Luke Wiens secured 27th with a 111 and Kendall Hiebert shot a 113 for 29th.

Carson Sterk was 34th with a 125 and Goessel closed out the meet with Chris Strecker shooting a 127 for 36th.

Roby’s state tournament tees off at 10 a.m. Monday.
