Rount the town: Pearl Koch entertains visitors

James Haas of Fountain Valley, Calif., and Mary Ann Allerd of Yukon, Okla., were Tuesday visitors of Pearl Koch. Joining Pearl and her guests for lunch in Newton were Dorothy Helmer and Doris Liggett of Newton.

Sixteen members of Baptist King’s Daughters and two guests, Virginia Fadenrecht of Hillsboro and Joyce Duke of Marion enjoyed breakfast at Main Street Café in Durham for their July meeting. Marcella Mohn was in charge of devotions.

Everette and Josie Eslinger of Canton visited at the Paul Pankratz home Sunday evening.

Wilbur and Florence Hett joined their family for a get-together Sunday at Council Grove lake. Other family members there included Norma and Von Pschigoda of Hope, Rod and Mary Riffel of Rose Hill, Rick and Kim Riffel of Phillipsburg, Chad and Stacey Tishhauser and family of Council Grove, Mr. and Mrs. Brennan Riffel and family of Sterling, Alexia Riffel and friend of Lawrence, Matthew Riffel of Overland Park, Isaac Riffel and friend of Kansas City, and Megan Riffel and friend of Overland Park.

Tim and Donna Diener and Paul and Arlene Pankratz visited Kent and Emily Nichols at Hesston Monday evening.

Sympathy is extended to the Oliver Mohn family at the death of their son-in-law, Bob Haug of Jetmore. Many from the area attended his funeral services Thursday at Jetmore.

Irma Groening attended a cookout for her grandson, Justin Groening’s birthday at Justin and Tina’s house in Marion Saturday evening. Other family and friends also were present.

The Durham High School Alumni Banquet was held Saturday evening at the American Legion hall at Hillsboro. Alumni enjoyed visiting Saturday afternoon at Durham. Special recognition was given to the classes of 1958, 1960, 1961, and 1962. David Vogel and Audrey Weinbrenner presented a program of music. David is the grandson of Ralph Vogel, class of 1955, and Audrey the granddaughter of Richard Dirks, class of 1956 and Pat Ford, class of 1960.

Debbie and Amber Goossen of Nebraska spent a few days with Willis and Ruth Ann Penner.

Virgil and Jean Oblander’s great-grandchildren, Harley and Isaac Oblander of Wichita, spent Friday with them.

Georgie Medley of Liberty, Mo., was a weekend guest of the Virgil Oblanders. Georgie attended the Durham alumni banquet Saturday evening.

David and Sherilyn Kadel of Randall were Saturday night and Sunday breakfast guests at the Paul Pankratz home. They also came especially to attend the Durham alumni banquet.

Edie Ollenburger accompanied Pastor Curtis and Connie Wiens to the Southwestern Baptist Association in Greeley, Colo., this past weekend.

Recent visitors of Allen and Elma Schlehuber were Evelyn Cherry of Haysville, Donna Dana of Albuquerque, N.M., Doris Howard of North Platte, Neb., and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Laubhan of Overland Park.

Jim and Jerri Hampton of Newton and Beverly Elliott of Hillsboro helped Oliver Unruh celebrate his birthday Friday evening. Saturday evening, their guests for dinner out at the Pizza Hut were Sid and Irma Unruh and Brandon and Brandon’s friend of Newton, Wilbur Hanneman, and Beverly Elliott.
