Ruby Holub

Ruby A. Holub, 86, passed away April 30, 2015, at St. Luke Living Center in Marion, Kansas.

She was born Aug. 5, 1928, in Jetmore, Kansas. She was the daughter of Earl and Alma (Hotze) Thomas. She grew up in Wichita and graduated from high school there. Following high school she enrolled in a secretarial course.

On April 28, 1947, she was married to Ernest Holub. They made their home near Marion, where Ruby was a homemaker. She also worked as a secretary for Farm Bureau Insurance in Marion.

She was a member of the Holy Family Parish of Marion County, St. Anne’s Altar Society, and Harvest House.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ernest in 1999; brothers, Earl Thomas and Harold Thomas; and sisters, Dolores Sysak and Dora Holub.

She is survived by: sons, Dan Holub of Marion, Terry Holub of Loogootee, Indiana, Frank Holub of Niles, Michigan, Tim Holub of Cheney, Lin Holub of Galion, Ohio, and Ben Holub of Newton; a daughter, Kathy Budd of Pine, Colorado; 24 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

A funeral Mass was celebrated 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at Holy Family Parish, St. John’s Nepomucene Catholic Church of Pilsen. The Rosary was held there on Monday evening. Interment was in Pilsen Cemetery.

Memorial funds have been established for the Fr. Kapaun Legacy Fund, Good Shepherd Hospice, or St. Luke Living Center in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, 205 Elm, Marion KS, 66861.
