Schmidt grabs gold for Goessel

At Bluestem High School April 3, Alex Schmidt won gold for the Goessel boys track team. Schmidt threw the discus 99-9 to get off to a good start for 2012. The Tuesday meet saw many boys compete and several others scoring for the Bluebirds.

Alex Schmidt — Discus — 99-9 — 1st place.

Nathan Czarnowsky — Long Jump — 17’4.50” — 5th place: 800 m — 2:24.8 — 5th place.

Davis Cook — 200 m dash — 25.70 sec — 4th place.

Heath Goertzen — 1600 m — 5:33.60 — 5th place: 3200 m — 11:33.00 — 3rd place.

Ben Wiens — 3200 m — 12:36.00 4th place.

4X800 Relay — 11:27.0 — 3rd place (Dane Kruger, Aaron Woelk, Daniel Kristofferson, Robi Kosa).

The Goessel girls only scored 13.5 points at Bluestem on Tuesday, with Erin Brubaker earning points in two events, and Ali Buller and Brittny Czarnowsky each picking up a second place medal.

Erin Brubaker — High Jump — 4-4 — 4th place; Long Jump 12’4” — 5th place.

Buller — 800 m — 2:43.00 — 2nd place.

Czarnowsky — 3200 m — 13:43.00 — 2nd place.

Nathan Czarnowsky, Cook, and Heath scored for GHS Thursday at Bennington.

Buller and Brittny Czarnowsky were the only girls to earn points Thursday.

Boys

Nathan Czarnowsky — long jump — 16 feet, 5 inches — 3rd.

Goertzen — 3200 — 11:27 — 5th
