Schools to deliver romance for Valentine's

Staff writer

Countywide high school singers have a Valentine’s Day surprise up their sleeves.

Marion

A romantic song, a rose, and the recipient’s favorite treat can be delivered by group members Feb. 13.

The song may be delivered virtually for $10, in person for $15, or in person with a rose and treat for $20.

To have a singing Valentine delivered, email your name, the name of the recipient, the best time for delivery, location of delivery, and email of the recipient (for virtual delivery) to Ruth Springer at sprinrut@usd408.com.

The email should include whether a rose or treat is wanted and what the recipient’s favorite treat is.

MHS Singers also are offering a formal black-tie affair at 6 p.m. Feb. 16 at Marion Presbyterian Church, 610 E. Lawrence St.

Dishes, desserts, and music will be served at the formal event. Tickets are $20 a person. Reservations at sprinrut@usd408.com are required.

Hillsboro

Hillsboro High School’s Spirit-N-Celebration singers will perform singing Valentines as a fundraiser for an annual trip to sing in Kansas City.

The group will be offering a selection of songs to be sung to your Valentine along with a choice of add-ons for an additional price. Valentines will be performed between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Feb. 14.

Valentines cannot be delivered to individual students during school hours.

Singing Valentines can be ordered from any Spirit-N-Celebration member or by placing an order in the high school office. Phone orders are not accepted. Payment must be made when the order is placed.

Prices are $10 for a singing Valentine, $15 for a singing Valentine and one add-on, $19 for a singing Valentine and two add-ons, and $23 for a singing Valentine and three add-ons.

Add-ons include a single red rose (limited to the first 36 orders), a balloon heart, balloon bear, balloon butterfly, and heart-shaped sugar cookie.

Orders are due in the high school office by Feb. 10.

Peabody-Burns

Singing Valentines for classes at Peabody-Burns schools include a song and a chocolate chip cookie.

A pink or red rose may be added to the Valentine — or just a rose may be sent.

To buy a song for an entire class costs $1 for each person to receive a cookie.

To order, contact vocal and band teacher Laura Leitnaker at lleitnaker@usd398.com.

Orders are due Feb. 9.
