Marion Senior Center
All kinds of excitement at Marion Senior Center began Dec. 20 with Janie Westerman bringing treats for her birthday.
The center’s newsletter crew were efficient as always. The group included Doris Winkler, Shirley Bowers, Irmagene Goodman, Larry and Barb Smith, Al and Gloria Ash, Shirley Moore, Lanell Hett, and Gayla Ratzlaff.
The next day the center played host for a Senior Citizens of Marion County board meeting. It was also the center’s Christmas dinner. Janie Westerman and Rebecca Hogue had decorated the tables, and each person received a goody bag of treats.
The center even had Santa Claus in full array. It might have been Max Ewert.
On Christmas Eve, the center had more treats and goodies on hand. After lunch, seniors played bingo. Harlow Warneke was the caller with helpers Janie and Rebecca.
The center’s program on Dec. 26 was Sheila Kelley from the Marion County Record. She talked about her thesis of Nebraska women in journalism.
A veterans representative will be at the center at 11 a.m. Jan. 8; “Elvis” will be at the center Jan. 12.
