Hurler wins shots, sets record in discus

Three Hillsboro Trojans didn’t shy away from high level competition at last week’s Wichita State University Pre-State Challenge meet at Cessna Stadium.

Wes Shaw took first in shot put for 3-2-1A classes in the event designed to give elite-level athletes the chance to compete where the state track meet is held.

Shaw took third in elite division discus with a school-record 157’3” heave.

Abby Sechrist had a strong showing in the 3-2-1A 800-meters, placing second. Sienna Kauffman took 11th in long jump.
