The Hillsboro High School tennis team finished fourth out of seven teams Thursday in the Hillsboro Invitational tennis tournament.
No. 1 singles player Grant Shewey placed fourth in the singles bracket. He defeated Wesley Johnson of Smoky Valley, 8-0, in his first match, and Evan Bentley of Hutchinson Trinity Catholic, 8-2, in his second match. Shewey lost to Ross Rassmussen of Conway Springs, 8-6, and Eric Banning of Hutchinson Trinity, 8-3, in the third-place match.
No. 2 singles player Harry Faber defeated Chet Floyd of Chapman, 8-1, but lost to Banning, 8-4, in his second match. Faber then lost to Bentley in the seventh-place match.
The doubles team of Daniel Gray and Jeff Pritchard won matches against teams from Circle, 6-2, and Smoky Valley, 6-0.
