Speeding leads to drug arrest

A man pulled over for speeding on US-56 and arrested on suspicion of three drug charges spent only two hours in jail before posting a $10,000 surety bond Tuesday morning.

Joshua A. Bradley, 37, was driving a 2006 Toyota Highlander registered to someone else when police officer Aaron Slater pulled him over for speeding, Police Chief Clinton Jeffrey said.

“He decided to talk to the guy a little longer,” Jeffrey said. “He agreed to that.”

Bradley admitted he had marijuana in the vehicle, Jeffrey said. Slater found 7.3 grams of marijuana (enough for more than 20 joints) and 14.3 grams of methamphetamine (nearly 140 doses) in the car.

Jeffrey said drug paraphernalia also was found in the Toyota.

Bradley was booked into jail on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana, failure to display proof of insurance, speeding, having no drug tax stamp, and solicitation to distribute certain depressants.

Jeffrey said Bradley resides in Downs even though the jail roster lists his address as Sylvan Grove.

The Toyota was towed to the police station.

“In the event that the police department seizes it, we don’t want to pay a large tow bill,” Jeffrey said.
