State has many care homes in their control

Staff writer

Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services has taken receivership of 21 adult care facilities to date in 2018 — far more than a typical year.

“The number of receiverships this year is attributable to bad/incompetent operators, operator insolvency, fraud and misuse of patient funds,” said Angela deRocha, KDADS director of communication.

Besides Westview Manor and Great Bend Health and Rehab, both operated by Altacare, the list includes the following care and rehabilitation centers: Chase County, Downs. Edwardsville, El Dorado, Eskridge, Kaw River, Lansing, Neodesha, Parkway, Pittsburg, Spring Hill Care, Wakefield, Wellington, Wichita, and Wilson, and Providence Living Center, Village Villa/Village Estates, Westview of Derby, Flint Hills Care Center, and Fort Scott Manor.
