Strotkamp

Elizabeth Louise (Engel) Strotkamp, 80, of Peabody died July 23 at St. Luke Living Center, Marion.

Burial was Monday at Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Peabody. Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion, was in charge.

Born April 21, 1934, in Philadelphia, to Louis and Kathryn (Waterhouse) Engel, she and three sisters were placed in an orphanage after their mother died in 1945 while their father was serving in the Army.

Stationed in Peabody in 1946 as an interpreter at a prisoner-of-war camp, he married Evelyn Russell, and the family was reunited.

After working in Newton for several years, she married Leroy Strotkamp on July 15, 1963. He survives along with sisters Kathryn Spaventa of Philadelphia and Ruth Topham of Park City.

Sisters Dorothy Kaufman and Joan Palmer and half-sister Elisa Engel preceded her in death.

A memorial fund has been established with Peabody Senior Center.
